About Alan- My Favourites

I always look for the best in people, have friends from all walks of life and get on well with most people. I’m generally quite optimistic. I dislike people who are mean with money or full of their own self-importance. You can be proud but modest, ambitious but not arrogant.

If the great classical composers were alive today, they’d be playing:

  • Mozart = House
  • Beethoven = Trance
  • Bach = Hardstyle

So don’t dismiss this genre before giving it a try

Don’t get as much time as I used to or as I’d like to read; feels like stolen time. My book collection is as varied as my CD collection.

Favourite Authors: Tony Paterson, Irvine Welsh, Nick Hornby, Amis, Grisham, Dan Brown, Gore Vidal, Ian McEwan, Naupaul, Philip Roth, James Joyce, Oscar Wilde.

Favourite books: The Gingerman, The Alchemist, Dubliners,

Cursory interest in cars, see them as functional. However I did enjoy my last company car BMW X3. It’s like driving a big comfortable armchair on four wheels. Just the right thing for a guy with no kids, no dog and no golf clubs. The space and speed were great as was the panoramic sunroof. And while I know it’s a woman’s X5, I didn’t qualify for the larger version. One day I’ll join the BSD Club.

Now you’re talking. My Suzuki Intruder 1,800cc. Fantastic Machine!

Impossible to give one answer but depending on the mood:

Anchorman, Old School, The Life of Brian, Shawshank Redemption, The Good, The Bad and the Ugly, Fistful of Dollars, Tombstone, Good Will Hunting, Kill Bill (both), Kelly’s Army, True Romance, The Bourne Series, The Great Escape, 12 Angry Men (original film)

Sorry but don’t like Sci-Fi (books or movies), cannot think abstractly. Guess that’s why I work in Finance……

Coming Home
What a great feeling it was to arrive in Viña del Mar, the beach town next to Santiago. It was actually quite exciting to count down the final 1,000KM of this 37,000KM adventure. The end seeming all the more real since I booked my return flight.
Ecuador (and incredible Alausi)
As I left Colombia to continue the journey south, I felt somewhat travel weary. The effect of ten months on the road, missing family and friends (two of whom had just visited) and thinking the final two months would simply be more of the same. Like any holiday, when it nears the end your thinking begins to switch towards the
